29 Jul 2022: A brand new mosque was launched on the ancestral grounds of the Kariisa Foundation in Ruhaama in memory of Sheikh Dr. Anas Kaliisa. The Launching of the Mosque and laying the foundation stone was officiated by His Royal Highness Prince Kassim Kakungulu, the ceremonial head of Muslims in Uganda. The land on which the mosque is built was donated by the Kariisa Foundation and the construction of the mosque was funded by the Islamic Centre for Education and Research with direct supervision of the renowned scholar Immam Ibbans Eid Kasozi. Hajji Mohammed Kaliisa, the Chairman of the Kariisa Foundation led other Kariisa family members to welcome HRH the Prince and other VIP guests to the opening ceremony. Prior to Sheikh Dr. Kaliisa's death on November 4, 2020, he had identified multiple locations in Ntungamo District to set up centers for education excellence. On the same day the Ruhaama mosque was launched, three other similar mosques were launched in addition to four solar powered water wells that were commissioned in the same area. Of the four mosques commissioned on this day, two were opened by HRH Prince Kassim. The other two were opened by Dr. KIN Ibrahim Kariisa, CEO of Next Media Services and Sheikh Abdulrahman Yunus Iga Kalantan, the Amir of Ugandan Muslims in the United Kingdom respectively. All the eight projects commissioned were in Ntungamo District.
