HASSAN KALISA

Biography:

Hassan (also known as Hussein) Kalisa has been based in Johannesburg South Africa since the early 1990s and currently serves as the Chief Education Specialist at the Gauteng Province Department of Education.

He has served the education sector since graduating from Makerere University in the early 1980s. After his graduation he lived and worked in Uganda, Kenya and Swaziland before migrating to South Africa towards the end of the apartheid system. In each of the countries he lived in, he integrated with the local communities and picked up the languages spoken such as Swahili, Kikuyu, Swati, Afrikaans and Xhosa.
